Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 (Refurbished)

I've used wireless keyboards/mice in the past, this one isn't worth the time or money. The item showed up without software disc, no manual/installation instructions, no batteries... Just the keyboard, the mouse, the transceiver, that's it. After installing the drivers from microsofts website it was working erratically until I figured out the transceiver was too far away, turns out 2-3 feet is the MAX distance depending on interference (a box of kleenex blocks signals entirely.) Not worth the money or time as it really doesn't make sense to go wireless if this is the best option. If what you really want is a wireless keyboard I like the logitech 2.4gHz chicklet USB version, range is about 10ft and batteries last 3-6 months depending on use. As for keyboards,... I don-no, but NOT this anchor! Disappointing as I usually like microsoft hardware. The keyboard has lots of buttons, but the action is non-committal, too soft sounding/feeling for my taste. Doesn't work at all until logged in to vista, have to use the laptop's keyboard to login and then switch to the wireless which is more of a hastle than it's worth. I got the wireless setup so I could put the laptop 'away' and use a larger monitor and full size keyboard/mouse. The layout on the keyboard isn't quite standard, so I spent some time looking for basic stuff like delete, page up/dn etc. if you're fingers are trained to where these buttons should be, this layout is just off enough it's difficult to use. May not bother everyone, but the idea of a full size keyboard was to know where things were without the 'laptop hunt'. I'd recommend a cheap wired keyboard, and the wireless mouse if that works for the situation, that's what I'm going to do. Good luck.

Good value and works great most of the time. The wireless signal reciever does notwork unless in direct line with keyboard and mouse, which is fine but i have seen products like this one that work from 'around the corner'. It suites all of my needs though.

I purchased this Keyboard and Mouse to replace my older one. It was really easy to install, both hardware and software. There were no problems. All of the functions work on both. What really surprised me is the response of the mouse. It works really great in my games, no noticable lag. Both the keyboard and mouse are comfortale to use. I would definately recommend this Item to anyone.
