If you need help in organizing your photo collection, this might be great for you, although a bit too exhaustive, too many
unnecessary features. Not easily understood. I have my own collection organization and was looking for a new
'EDITING' software for my new computer that has VISTA... I had great older software for editing purposes, but would
not work with Vista....For the price, this software is mostly 'organization' and too complex, not easily understood. If you
are strictly looking for Editing Tools, this is too expensive for the dollar it costs.
Vista has it's Photo Gallery Program, HP (new computer) has it's own photo gallery, and adding this software makes
for a major headache. Far too easy to duplicate files of photos in too many places.
If I have poor photos, I delete them when downloaded. A rating system of poor to good/excellent is unnecessary.

I use Lightroom to "pre-process" my images. I use Lightroom for it's wonderful Library capabilities, and it's very useful editing features. Then, if I really want to go further (maybe one out of twenty of my shots deserve special consideration), I export them to Photoshop Elements. I don't ever need more than what is available in Elements, because the full version of Photoshop is NOT for photographers. It is more of an art department or production department tool for special effects, photo manipulation, or merging images for publication, and you just don't need it for normal photography uses. Buy both this and Lightroom, and you're set.
